A historical outline of its structure is general land office of 1750 in Nardò, where we find the name “Toorione Cola Rizzo oppure Messer Vincenzo di proprietà del possessore dell’Avetrana Principe Vincenzo Imperiale”.
The area was composed by case, capanne, corti, aia e le terre erano agresti e macchiose.
It was one of the biggest farms of Arneo and extended for 1300 tomoli (1 tomolo is about 0.63 hectare , 819 hectares in total) of bush and houses and bordering to the Levant on Serra degli Angeli, to the west on Diserta Boncore, to the north on Lido del Mare, to the south on the properties of Mensa Vescovile.
Soon after the Second World War the Agriculture Reform was passed by the State and Masseria Cola Rizzo, which extended for 1237 hectares, was divided into 37 farms and 131 shares. It was the most extended and richest in settlement.
From Torre Lapillo (23 houses occupied by country families), it included 725 hectares of pasture, 260 hec. of sown ground and included Palude Serra, Feda and 165 hec. of ilex grove, today completely disappeared.
In the same period, the Reform Body created a representation office that worked many years until its closing in 1968, when its functions were taken from the central office in Lecce. |
